The White V-Neck Tee – How to Look modern & Chic

A white v-neck tee is one of the most fundamental pieces of clothing in our wardrobe. While white t-shirts are not particularly memorable, they serve as the perfect piece for building great outfits that also help keep us warm in the winter and cool in the summer. That’s why I have dedicated this post to how to wear a white v-neck tee to be more stylish, modern & chic with 2021 trends & wardrobe-essentials.

So why are there so many choices when it comes to a basic white tee? I’ve decided that a white tee could easily be compared to a pair of jeans. The perfect one makes us feel good. We all have different wants and needs, and we are all interested in finding the right style, look and fit that suits our body type and personal style. While many may disagree personally I am not a fan of investing a lot in a white t-shirt. Instead, I redirect those funds to shoes, accessories, or designer pieces that fill my soul and make a statement.

God knows there are options out there for everyone, every activity, and every price point.

Why a V-Neck?

A white t-shirt is the perfect piece to have in your wardrobe if your are looking for how to be more stylish. It is simple and looks good on just above everyone. Here’s why it:

1. elongates the neck for a more elegant, refined look

2. creates space between face and chest to deemphasize large bust (with a shallow vee) or add volume to a small bust (with a deep vee).

3. narrows broad shoulders by adding vertical interest to neckline, and

4. lengthens the body, especially for my petite and short-waisted girlfriends.

What you need to be more stylish, polished, modern & chic

1. wear Nude Undergarments

Let’s start with a basic style tip….and that is,….choose a nude bra when you wear white t-shirts. You may have already know this, but it is worth repeating. The nude color bra your choose should match closely match the color of your skin for best results. There are many shade of nude, light nude bras and dark nude bras, to suit various skin tones. This basic choice will ensure the color of your undergarments won’t negatively interfere with the finished look of your outfit. Something this basic can make the difference between a beautifully polished, effortlessly chic look and a fashion faux pas. While this detail may not be one you think about, it matters.

2. wear Bright White & Pressed

Your white v-neck tee must always look bright white & pressed if you want to look polished, modern and chic. Over time all white shirts begin to look dingy, pitted and tired. When they get to this point it’s time to demote them. This might mean wearing them under a sweater in the winter to stay warm, or sending them to the rag-bag for home chores.

So having multiples and replacing them every year or so makes sense. For this reason, I recommend not spending a lot these pieces. While I am not a fan of going to the men’s section to find your tee shirts, if you can find good quality women’s tee with a feminine fit that offers a multi-pack deal, that’s the way to go.

3. Wear it UNTUCKED & Belted

Will you tuck in your white t-shirt, or will you belt it? Tucking techniques are something we hear about a lot when styling outfits, but the untucked, belted look is unexpected. Consider belting to look more stylish. It is trendy to wear a belt with a blazer or a vest. How about a belted tee?

I’ve played with both a leather knot belt and a black & white snakeskin belt when creating this look. I purchased both a few years ago, so I linked similar belts if you would like to try out this look.

4. wear it with Color, Shine or Texture

Think about adding color, shine or texture to add interest and personality to your outfit. Metallic accents are currently on-trend. If this speaks to you, consider adding a gold braided belt to a pair of jeans and a classic black jacket.

5. wear A Finishing Piece

How about a pastel blazer to finish off your white t-shirt So excited to see that pastels are making a comeback! Shades of pink, baby blue, mint green, lilac, and soft yellow are perfect for spring and summer and some of my favorites. If you find the right pastel shade for your skin tone, and they can look good on everyone!
