How to Wear Combat Boots
So you want to know how to wear combat boots? It’s way easier than you think. Wear combat boots like you would wear any other type of boot. The more you treat them like just another pair of shoes or boots in your wardrobe, the cooler your outfits will be.
When you pull together outfits, instead of playing it safe and throwing on a pair of pointed toe flats or riding boots, put on your combat boots and you will instantly look more modern and edgy.
For example, throw on your combat boots with one of most chic outfits around…. a black blazer, a white vneck t shirt, your favorite pair of jeans, and you instantly have that edgy, cool girl vibe.
Bottom line, we wear combat boots to switch up our typical look by stepping away from “safe,” and stepping into edgy. Try it if you are up for living life with a little more exhilaration and excitement.
Best Combat Boots
It all started with Doc Marten combat boots. They were the first to introduce combat boots decades ago for police and military use. So when combat boots broke into the fashion world, they were essentially the only brand available.
Since then, countless styles, brands, and colors became available. While I find some of the new colors and styles quite stylish and appealing, I feel like the original is timeless. And if you are a purist like I am, you will probably insist on the original Doc Marten’s.
However, as for style, I think the original matte black style lacks interest. So I chose the patent leather version because it aligns better with my style and aesthetic. In my humble opinion, texture of patent leather looks more stylish, elevated, and timeless.
But, to be honest, I am quite intrigued by some newer styles I have seen on the street. I especially love the quilted styles out there, plus the ivory colored boots and some of the high-heeled combat boots I have seen.

I agree that combat boots are quite fashionable with the correct outfit and are no longer just a goth statement. I wore these for 21 years (US Air Force) and don’t care for them anymore…for good reason…but they do look good on women and may be an appropriate replacement for the Wellingtons. Combat boots are very utilitarian and come in many colors. Great article!
